Design and Technology at St. John's

Boys begin to study Design and Technology when they enter the Junior School (Year 3). The subject offers distinctive opportunities for kinaesthetic learning and teamwork. Within a specialised, dedicated workshop they enjoy a wide variety of design and realisation projects. Boys undertake a range of activities which enable them to develop specific making skills as well to plan and carry out a variety of creative projects. For example they build structures, such as bridges and towers, make models, solve challenging problems, investigate mechanisms and construct electronics circuits. These activties provide opportunities to develop drawing, learn practical workshop skills and examine surface patterns and finishes.
