At St John’s we are keen to run activities that enhance and extend the individual musical abilities of the pupils.

These groups meet on a weekly basis all year round and pupils are given opportunities to perform in class, at lunch time, at assemblies, the School Carol Service, Musical Shows and Concerts.  We join with Merchant Taylors’ School for choral events, such as the Spring Concerts at Merchant Taylors’ Hall, Threadneedle Street and the Joint Schools Concert at Merchant Taylors’ School.

Many groups and individuals take part in the Watford Music Festival, and we have regular success, both individually and with ensemble performances. In 2010 we entered more ensembles than before.

We also meet with other schools at workshops, for instance at Merchant Taylors’ School. We regularly perform to the elderly residents at Erskine Hall and we enjoy our visits to RNIB Sunshine House in Northwood where we meet and play to the children.
