
The house system aims to provide opportunities for the boys to interact with different age groups and to mix with different staff in a supportive atmosphere. Extra responsibilities for boys are possible including year 8 house prefects, who play an important part in the day-to-day running of registers and lunch. Initiatives, such as charitable giving, are often the result of house discussions. Every pupil from year 3 to 8 is a member of a house, which are:
All the staff with the exception of the Headmaster, Deputy Head and the Senior Teacher are also members of houses. The teacher in charge of each house, liaising with the Deputy Head, runs regular meetings to discuss the progress of the house.
All boys try to gain house points through good work and behaviour. They are able to gain certificates for the amounts of positive points. This motivates the boys and they enjoy receiving these certificates during the course of the school year. These points go towards the house points merit cup called the Burton Page Cup.
Alongside this an annual house activities cup provides competition between the houses. Events that are included:
The boys quickly form an allegiance to their house and a sense of fun and friendly competition is apparent at all the house events.
