St. John's Win 11 Cups at Watford Music Festival
The Watford Festival was established over 60 years ago and has grown to become one of the largest and most respected in the UK. St. John's boys have done particularly well at this year's festival.
We gained 5 First Places with Cups and Gold medals in the Woodwind and Brass Section, 5 in the String section and 1 in the Piano section.
Well done to Christopher Savage who won 2 cups, Harry Rattan, Rohan Virani, Nathan Dixon, Anish Kejriwal, Alexander Everett, Faiz Mahdi Chatoo, Joe Salkeld, Robin Sargeson and The Brass Group who won their sections.
Silver medals to Jungsoo Han, Thomas Boyle, Christopher Savage, Harry Russell, Joe Vaughan and Mrs Chamberlain's Wind Ensemble.
Bronze medals go to Seungsoo Han, Saif Abbas Chatoo, Sean Monighan, Anish Kejriwal, Rohan Virani and The Senior Recorder Group.
Merits and Special Merits go to Roan Gower, Fynn Levy, Neil Sahasrabudhe, Cameron N'Jie, Thomas Matheickal, Sairam Venkat and Amaan Ali.
The adjudicators were very complimentary about the performances of the boys, and their enthusiasm and skill level. A special mention was made of Kit Gillman, our drummer in the Brass Group; the adjudicator was very impressed to hear a drum kit player who could follow the beat so well, and play with real variation in his dynamics - that means he could play quietly as well as loud!
