Congratulations to our Year 8 boys
We have just received the news of our Year 8 boys' results in the transfer examinations to senior schools. They have performed extremely well. In particular, congratulations to those who were awarded scholarships:
Academic Scholarship to Merchant Taylors
Sam Baumal - Lord Hailey Scholarship
Anish Kejriwal - Andrew Scholarship
Anish Kothari - Sir James Jeans Scholarship
Freddie Collings - Malyn Scholarship
Music Scholarship to Merchant Taylors
Anish Kejriwal
Academic Scholarship to Haberdashers
Rafay Kamal
Anish Kothari
Academic Scholarship to John Lyon
Jaimin Tankaria
Sports Scholarship to Mill Hill
Marcus Godfrey
Milan Johal
To achieve three of the five major scholarships that Merchant Taylors' award is a considerable achievement. The Malyn Scholarship, which Freddie Collings, our Head Boy, won is the top minor scholarship, this means that St. John's boys were awarded four of the top six academic scholarships to Merchant Taylors' School this year. Two pupils sat for Haberdashers' and they both achieved academic scholarships. Our Deputy Head Boy, Anish Kejriwal, gained not only the Andrew Scholarship, but was also awarded a Music Scholarship to Merchant Taylors'. Anish Kothari was awarded academic scholarships to both Merchant Taylors' and Haberdashers'. These are exceptional achievements.
I was equally pleased with the performance of some of our less academic boys who performed very well to gain places at competitive schools like Berkhamsted, John Lyon, Mill Hill and Aldenham. In fact, our thirty five Year 8 boys were offered the following places:-
- Merchant Taylors - 21
- Aldenham - 3
- Berkhamsted - 2
- Haberdashers' - 2
- Immanuel College - 2
- John Lyon - 5
- Mill Hill - 5
- St. Alban's - 1
- Tonbridge - 1
Some parents and boys are faced with difficult choices as they were offered places at more than one school.
