At St John’s we believe in nurturing the potential of every boy, helping them to grow in confidence, develop a love of learning and become compassionate leaders of tomorrow. With a focus on academic excellence, personal development and a strong sense of community, we provide the foundation for a lifetime of success.
Astronomy Evening was a stellar success, even with cloudy skies!
We enjoyed fascinating talks from our boys: Shayan, Rian and Shrihaan in Year 5 who gave an informative presentation on the solar system, while Aaran and Riyan in Year 6, blew us away with their insights on black holes.
A fantastic turnout was complemented by delicious hot chocolate and cakes. Can’t wait to continue the stargazing at Ruislip Lido, where clearer skies are promised!
Guests were dazzled at Arts Evening by the impressive showcase of creativity from our Art Department, with the theme “Under the Sea”.
Glow-in-the-dark coral, luminous lighthouses, bottle boats and vibrant papier-mâché fish brought the theme to life, giving a glimpse of the incredible work produced this term.
The festive season officially kicked off last Saturday as our choirs joined children from Hillside Infant & Junior School and Harlyn School for the Northwood Hills Big Christmas Switch-On. All the children sang beautifully, spreading festive cheer!
The Mayor of Hillingdon thanked everyone for attending and led the countdown to the Big Switch-On, lighting up the gorgeous Christmas tree as well as all the lights along Joel Street.

As the evenings get darker, our Nursery boys have been exploring day and night.
They’ve been pressing star cutters into night sky playdough, creating day and night pictures with tissue paper, printing moons with tin foil, and adding a touch of sparkle with glitter on their suncatcher stars.
Such a fun and creative way to learn about the moon, stars, and the changing sky!

Last week, Year 6 explored World War One to refine their speaking and listening skills ahead of upcoming interviews. Starting with a Q&A, they then worked in pairs on recruitment posters, trench warfare, poison gas, and the significance of Remembrance Day.
It was fantastic to see them collaborate thoughtfully and build their understanding together. We wish them every success as they prepare for the interview challenges ahead!
