Performing on stage develops confidence and teamwork. Boys take part in dramatic productions at all ages with several performances each year. Not only do the boys act, but they also assist with stage management, musical accompaniment and scenery. Visits to the theatre start in the Nursery and are arranged regularly to complement the curriculum.

Pupils in the Pre-Prep start with dramatic performances from their first term and as they move up to the Prep School there are many opportunities for boys to be involved in drama.

Each year a short play is performed by boys in Years 5 to 7 at the Arts Evening. In the autumn and spring terms, Year 3 and 4 boys meet for Drama Club working towards a dramatic performance which takes place before the Easter holiday. The main Senior School production is staged at the end of the school year. Alternating between a straight play and a musical, this allows the older boys to take on some more challenging roles.

As well as acting and singing, pupils enjoy being part of the whole production team. Behind the scenes a large number of boys help with lighting and sound, work backstage and handle scene changes and props. They also feature in the pit band for our musical productions.

Recent past productions have included a memorable performance of the musical ‘Oliver!’ an Arts Evening play, ‘Piccalilli Circus' and the latest Senior Drama productions, ‘Sherlock Holmes and the Limehouse Horror’ and ‘Relatively Roman’, a comedy of strange coincidences.
